Journal Blog 8   Questions I want to wright about: -        Say what you think the author is trying to do or say. What is the author’s main message or purpose? Say how well you think the author succeeds in what he is attempting and give reasons for your answers.   Now we have finished reading this play “An Inspector Calls”. I think it has a special end. I mean that, because the end is created, that quite everything I was thinking while reading is collapsed in the end. The whole story seems to begin again, which makes, that the theatre has an open and undefined end. This open end let me start thinking about a possible end and why the author had written such an odd end. Here I want to tell what I had thought the author wants to tell through his stage play before I read the remarks in German which explain the real purpose behind this theatre.   It was difficult for me to take the end of this book like it is written. A...
Journal Blog 7 (p. 94…97)   -At any point, write about how you feel while reading a section of the book. Say how what is happening makes you feel and why?   Here I want to write about the last pages in this play. (p.94…97) While reading the last pages I was shocked about that what happens in the end of this play. Mr. Birlings called the Chief Constable- Colonel Roberts and find out, that the inspector who interrogated the family before, wasn’t working as an Inspector by the Police. (p.85) And Gerald later called the Infirmary (page 94) and found out, that there was no girl which had committed suicide by drinking disinfectant. To read that makes me very happy. I thought that now the most blame is gone, that they had feared them to early and that this was all about a very bad prank with an obscure reason. As While I was reading that, everything indicated that there is coming a happy end. But no, I was wrong. And the actor only needed 12 lines to destr...
Journal Blog 6 (…80)   Questions I want to wright about: -Write down 5 questions you would like to ask a character. Say why you would like to ask these questions.   1)     To Sheila: Why do you always help the inspector to get a honest answer? (I want to ask her this question, because I think in her situation I wouldn’t have always interrupt to achieve, that the inspector, who is a foreign person, get a honest answer to his questions.) 2)     To Eric: Why haven’t you told your family earlier, that you are going to be a father? (I would like to ask him this question, because I don’t understand how someone could conceal this fact for such a long time. In his situation I would have told my family earlier.) 3)     To Gerald: Why haven’t you told Sheila earlier, that you had an affair with Daisy? (I think this was a great mistake of Gerald, and I would like to ask him this question, because I...
Journal Blog 5 (p. 73…76)   Questions I want to wright about: - Write a short letter to the author/ playwright or to one of the characters. Tell them what is on your on your mind.   Dear Mr. Birling I am the Pastor of your village, Joachim Wagner. From Eric I have heard the whole story you had as a family yesterday evening. That an inspector did asked you some questions and that you also found out what Erics problems are and what he did to get money for his girl who was pregnant. Eric has told me, that his relation to you is down at the moment.   I understand him. He is a young man who did a mistake and he is sorry about that. It’s not easy for such a young man to handle right in such an impractical situation. He just wanted to do the best of this unpleasant situation. He told me, that he really wants to pay you this money back he had stolen from you. Eric is a honest young man. And he wants to have a better relationship between you and him....
Journal Blog 4 (p.58…66)   Prediction: - At any point in the story predict how some character is going to change/ develop as the story progresses. How will they change?   For this blog I will chose the character of Mrs. Birling. Until now we didn’t know her very much. This figure of this theatre was in the past all the time in the background. Now I’ve decided to analyse her character, how is the relationship between her and the inspector, who is asking her questions and how I think she will develop her character in the course of the story. As we can see in page 58 line 2 or page 60 line 1, Mrs. Birling answer the questions very short and with much antipathies. She let the reader feel, that she don’t likes the character of Inspector Goole and also dislike his questions. Because of that she even asks annoying questions back to provoke the inspector. Because of these things, I think the relationship between these two is not good. I think Mrs. Birling is a...

Journal Blog 3 (p.48 …54 )   Points I want to wright about: -        Choose an important moment in the story for one of the characters and write a diary entry for that character (ie. What that character would put into his personal diary for that day when the important thing happened). Try to write in a style. You think fits the character’s personality.   Diary of GERALD: (p. 48…54)   I am not fine! Today was one of my nastiest days ever in my life! This day started fine and lucky. I engaged me with my dear Sheila and this occasion we were celebrating at the house of Birlings in the evening. But our nice time together didn’t last very long. Actually an Inspector disturbed our celebration and asked us questions about a young woman named Eva Smith which had murdered herself.   At first I thought that I don’t know this girl. But then it came out that Eva Smith have different names. I find out that Eva’s second...
